Hair Transplant Aftercare

Hair restoration treatments in the Philippines are getting more popular each day. The use of highly-advanced hair transplant methods that don’t require frequent operations and constant application of different hair products attracts more and more people from different walks of life. However, as per surgeons in the Philippines, growing hair back to its normal and natural look isn’t instant despite the transplant. It still takes time and a series of aftercare to get the best results. To help one recover better and redeem his crowning glory, we’ve listed down several tips to follow.

Take your medications.
After the hair transplant procedure, your scalp may be sore and prone to swelling and infection. To reduce the risk, take pain medications, anti-inflammatory pills, and antibiotics as prescribed by your surgeon. Never change the timing and dosage of your meds without first discussing it with a professional to prevent adverse reactions too.
Maintain the area clean.
Your head must remain dry within 24 hours after the treatment to allow the affected skin to heal. If you immediately wet your hair, the skin will absorb water in the grafted area and induce swelling. You can use the recommended products of your surgeon to remove dead skin and clean the scabs. Even if there are many suggestions online, please refrain from putting anything which has not been approved by your surgeon as it may only bring negative side effects.
Avoid putting pressure on your head.
As with any surgery, there will be scarring and itchiness after you get a hair restoration treatment from premium clinics in the Philippines. However, do not touch or fidget your newly-grafted scalp as this may expose it to bacteria and irritate it afterward. Moreover, pressure from using hats, caps and helmet may result in new hair grafts falling and delaying the whole healing process. Don’t use them till advised by your surgeon.
Don’t engage in strenuous activities.
Activities that propose excessive sweat and oil production are a big no. Avoid running, weight lifting, cycling, and active sports for about a month or until you get the approval of your surgeon to prevent bleeding, swelling and loss of grafts on your head. If your work is also strenuous, it is advised to take some time off to let your grafts heal properly.
Avoid heat from sunlight and hairstyling tools.
Excessive heat can burn your sensitive skin and keep your scalp from healing properly. It is advised to wait two days after surgery before going outdoors and absorbing some sunlight. Wear a loose-fitting hat will also help in protecting yourscalp. Hairstyling tools such as blower and curler must be avoided too to prevent unintentional loss of your fresh grafts.
Keep in touch with your surgeon.
Your surgeon knows your case best, so make sure you follow his general guide and never hesitate to visit his clinic for follow-up treatments. Save the clinic’s contact number too so you can reach your surgeon anytime in case of adverse side effects and emergencies.
Your recovery time ultimately depends on how religious you are to your hair restoration aftercare. The better care you take care of your scalp, the faster the recovery.
